A girl goes missing in the heart of London.
A mutilated body is pulled from the Thames.
A mysterious house hides dark secrets, protected by the greatest power in the land.
When her daughter Katie vanishes just a few days after arriving in London, Winifred Wren immediately heads to the city. Frantic with worry, she quickly finds herself stonewalled. Katie's apartment appears to have been ransacked, with strange symbols daubed all over the walls, but the police refuse to help.
And then Winifred meets Annabelle Churchill, a down-on-her-luck journalist who claims to know the truth.
Soon, Winifred learns about the horrors that lurk behind some of London's doors. A mysterious house is said to hide an ancient society, and it quickly becomes apparent that Katie has been drawn into the clutches of a cult. Dark forces are gathering, and an ancient evil is about to be invoked. Meanwhile, the crows and ravens of the city are gathering, preparing for a day that was prophesied two thousand years ago.
The Disappearance of Katie Wren is a horror novel about one woman's search for her daughter, and about the secrets that lurk in one of the world's largest cities.

I had problems getting past the first half of this book. I really considered dropping it around the 30% mark but the premise was interesting enough to me that I kept going. My big problem was the book is written from the perspective of Katie's mother, an extremely over-protective, hovering mother. Now, I'm sure that was the author's objective but, to me, she went too far. I hated the mother. She practically came across as the stereotypical TV over-bearing mom. I'm sure there really are mothers like that but I have never met them. Close, but not quite as bad as this one.Fortunately the writing and the premise were good enough to keep me from stopping. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this and I don't think I would have bought it if I knew how much I was going to dislike the mother.

The Disappearance of Katie Wren eBook Amy Cross Reviews
Another Amy Cross book transporting me out of my bedroom into the dark places we but dare to go. This story by Amy had me in the story and hearing the characters as if they were right here in the room with me. Just when I think the next book can't be as good as the last, she does it again.
I love the author's stories. Her writing pulls you in from page one and it's completely engrossing and entertaining for paranormal/ suspense genre fans.
This was my second favorite Amy Cross book after "Asylum"- For the most part it was a fast paced page turner- One example of a typo in the beginning of the book is car is suppose to be cat-
This Book has many different twists and turns. It took me a bit longer to get into this story than it usually does but I did enjoy it
I truly enjoyed reading titles by Amy Cross. This one was especially good because it was really easy good read. Not really scary but interesting enough to keep your interest to the end.
Winnie Wren is the most annoying character! No common sense and overly naive. I wanted to reach into the book and shake her. Other than the mother's ridiculous nature, the book was pretty good. The ending left me wanting to know what happened next. If there is a sequal, please change the main character to someone with some intelligence.
Loved this story and couldn't put it down until approximately 3/4 thru when the story became vague and rushed and sloppy. I was very disappointed in the ending. This had the beginnings of a fantastic, wicked story. Still, love the author.
