Annoyed and Starving or Vice Versa

Hmmm. Been a while. As a good friend said recently "the word blog means neglected." LOL. Anywho. Here I am in Arlington Heights, IL, a burb north of the city waiting for the Blonde Boy to get back from his Crestron training. We are going out for Mandarin Chinese with the training group for dinner. I am starving...

So while waiting for him to return...let me reflect on today's adventure a.k.a Shopping in the Burbs and how annoying it was.

First, you should know that the sales tax in the Chicago area is 10%...um yeah. It's 6% in Michigan.

Second, shopping suburb housewives of Chicago are not nice people...in fact they are mean, unsmiling and dead on serious while shopping. For me shopping is a pleasure...out here it is a serious sport, not to be taken lightly. :o

In the end, the only thing I bought was a skirt for $10...and a new eyeshadow (gold spice) from the freestanding MAC store. I heart makeup...

The Woodfield Mall...too big and super annoying. I was out of there in 30 minutes.

In the end, there was nothing in the stores here that I could not find back in Grand Rapids. And save 4% in sales tax on top of that. Unimpressed I was. I will be reserving the holiday gift shopping for home. :(

So I look forward to tomorrow's adventure. Hopping a Metra train to the AIC and MCA in downtown Chicago. Which I would have done today, but it was super freezing cold. So today a got just a teeny bit of retail therapy on. Tomorrow I get my culture fix...sure to be much more pleasurable.
